Description

2022, Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot, POMMARD, 'Les Jarollières', MonopoleThe name comes from an old word for marauding spirits which used to roam these parts (allegedly). The vineyard is in fact very well sited between the upper part of Volnay Fremiets and Pommard's excellent Les Rugiens Bas. Rich dark purple. There is a wealth of dark berry fruit on the nose, quite impressive, with a breadth of deep almost luxurious dark fruit, with just enough structure in tannins and acidity. A little dark pepper as well. A long finish.

both fruity and mineral

Sitting next to Ormes de Pez and just south of Calon Segur this chateau has been revived by its owners - the Champagne house Louis Roederer (since 1995)

Crushed red berry fruit

discreet yet fine

it's full-bodied

This is absolutely recognisable as being cut from the same cloth as old-school Figeac

A significant wealth of fruit but the final wine is not easy to be sure of at this stage

making it a tense

Attractive mid purple

in a vintage where this was an effective balance to the hot and dry summer

concentrated core of fruit and a long

structure and tension
