Scholar Object: Suitaki Round Water Dropper from Late Edo to Early MeijiSometimes an object feels old and this one does. It must have been beloved by a Japanese scholar or painter who used it everyday in painting or calligraphy. The round shape feels good to the touch, and its designs look like flower petals folded towards the center "air" hole. The ochre color of the Shino Glaze has varying shades of brown, intensified by the richer dark lines that separated the petals. Take a look at the base, it has rich stains from
