2023 Domaine Georges Lignier Bourgogne Passetoutgrain, Burgundy, France
Description
2023 Domaine Georges Lignier Bourgogne Passetoutgrain, Burgundy, FranceABOUT THIS WINE Bourgogne Passetoutgrain is a bit of a frustrating appellation, in that it totally erases village and vineyard distinctions. Its always a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, but where the fruit comes from cant actually be conveyed on the label. It doesnt matter if the vines are located in the lowliest Bourgogne designated vineyard or in a top village; if its a blend of Gamay and Pinot, its classified Bourgogne Passetoutgrain. ABOUT THIS
ended up meeting his future wife
but the grape proved to be more resistant to oxidation
Blend of parcels planted in 1976
when Gerard Chave took over from his father
made by blending wines of different harvests to achieve the array of sensory qualities that are typical of these aged tawny Port wines
Their specialty - a new style of using flower yeasts - is a combination of their skill
All harvesting is done by hand
In 1977 he purchased a plot in Bussia
Aged for 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels and 12 months in concrete tanks before spending at least 12 months in the bottle
The grapes were taken to the winery’s Vinsantaia (left)
The high percentage of old vines at this estate sets it apart in a region suffering from a plethora of very young vineyards
the wine is fermented primarily in stainless steel to preserve aromatic purity and freshness
