Winter Carnival 2 (Retail 11x14)The idea for this piece came from a spot along the Dakota Ridge trail here in Boulder. I've been hiking this trail nearly every day for almost 9 years now (wow time flies) and it never ceases to inspire more artwork. I started working on this piece right around the winter solstice and the full lunar eclipse, and there was definitely a strange vibe in the air ~ There is a view towards the bottom of the trail that is actually pretty average for the many

Out on the last branch there were two bald eagles looking out over the ocean

There are no lights except for the moon and stars

There is a palpable energy in those mountains that brings you higher

This piece is a variation of the theme from that project

just pure symmetrical eye-candy for the soul

There are countless small coves and secluded beaches perfect for camping and wakeboarding

the winds can be ferocious and quite often blow the trees over

encourage surrender
