NEW YORK CENTRAL ALCO RS3 8255 "ATLAS CLASSIC GOLD"-HORS3 Locomotive 8255 was delivered to the New York Central Railroad by the American Locomotive Co. (ALCo) as a class DRSP 6c diesel in June of 1951. It was renumbered 5504, Class ARS 16s, in 1966 and later Penn Central 5504 in 1968. It became Amtrak 127 in 1976 and sold to an individual for the Midland Railway in Kansas where it was restored as NYC 8255.
