2018 Château Le Chemin Pomerol, Bordeaux, FranceABOUT THIS WINE This vineyard is situated on the Chemin or The Way the pilgrims route to Santiago de Compostela. It had belonged to the Despagne Rapin family for around 20 years, before being passed down in 2008 to Franois Despagne, who is the owner today. This Pomerol wine is a single variety Merlot matured in new barrique barrels to give additional complexity and body to this silky, elegant wine. Different operations that can vary according to plot
the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged on the lees to build complexity and refine its mousse
The wine is aged in 25% new barrels for 12 to 18 months
which combined the use of oval-shaped concrete fermenters and 500-liter barrels
they’re simply delicious
with trademark notes of mint and licorice and a firm core of vibrant acidity
the wine reveals increasing nuance with air and promises graceful evolution over the next 10–15 years
The Garblet Sué” is a fraternal twin to the more stern and imposing “Villero” with the classic restrained power of the best of the wines from this classic village in the heart of the Barolo zone
