2023, Domaine Pernot Belicard, PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Les Pucelles' (Family Négoce)1. 5 Ha. Just moved from Ngoce into a Domaine holding Received in must from the family. From two plots, including some young vines, 8 year old next to Bienvenues Btard Montrachet, and the larger plot with older vines below the pillars of Clos des Folatieres. A clean pale colour, with some tension on the nose, more than fruit concentration, though the palate speaks more of the latter and delivers a fairly classical Pucelles with its steely backbone.

The 2022 Blanc de Lynch-Bages

The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru was bottled the week prior to my visit

A hedonistic Clos St-Denis

but the fruit returns in volume behind

cloves and black liquorice

Turns to tobacco and earth

yet there is a multi-layered finish of black fruit that lingers long in the mouth

The wine is soft and textured with mild acidity

that much is pretty evident
